Client story

A long-term partner to Pathstone

A relationship that began when Pathstone managed less than $10 billion and has spanned acquisitions, a recapitalization, and an NCP investment.

The situation

Our principals’ relationship with Pathstone, a multi-family office based in Englewood, New Jersey, began around 2014, when the firm managed less than $10 billion of client assets.

What we did

  • Buy-side advice on the acquisitions of Cornerstone (2021) and Willow Street (2022*)
  • Sell-side advice to Brainard (2023*) and Crestone (2024*) on their sales to Pathstone
  • A fairness opinion on Pathstone’s 2023* investment from Kelso
  • NCP invested alongside the Kelso recapitalization

The result

The four acquisitions our principals advised on added $43 billion of client assets. Pathstone has grown to about $185 billion of client assets.

* Originated and executed by H. Peter Nesvold while part of predecessor firm.
